#Christmas 2022

As the days get shorter and the nights longer, people in the mountains dedicate more time to working in the warm, wood-paneled room: weaving baskets, knitting Sarner (woolen jackets), baking cookies and Zelten, making straw stars for the Christmas tree, and much more. Crafting by hand takes center stage, creating moments of togetherness in the family, with both young and old, everyone working together.

Through the constant repetition of tasks, sensitivity and a feel for the materials, ingredients, and raw materials are developed. Whether it's the right warmth and smoothness of the cookie dough, the tension of a stitch between knitting needles, or the polished wood surface of the nativity scene. This harmonious blending of human handwork, making, and material is the added value of craftsmanship.

No machine will ever achieve the level of uniqueness in a work as handcraft does. It is the knowledge, experience, and even the art of engaging with each piece individually, interacting with the raw materials, recognizing its peculiarities, sensing, understanding, and then processing them. Through this process, tolerance, individuality, and sharpness for details and special qualities are born.

With this message, we would like to thank all our partners who provide us with the wonderful quality of products and ingredients that, according to our philosophy, we are able to offer our guests in the kitchen and through our hospitality in the historic walls of Zum Hirschen. For this, we are truly grateful.

Best wishes,
