Forest Parc Cavareno & Trail "dria al fos"
Between Forest, Water and Art: The Parco Pineta of Cavareno
A nature experience with artistic highlights and water trails leading to the Ruffrè Mendola biotope
One of the unique aspects of Zum Hirschen is its location on the linguistic and cultural border between South Tyrol and Trentino. The Nonsberg area is a true melting pot of cultures, where different influences meet and enrich both everyday life and the way we perceive the surrounding landscape, history and traditions.
Just a few villages away lies Cavareno, a charming small town on the sunny plateau of the Non Valley. Known for its well-preserved historic center, the village is also famous for the “Carta della Regola” – a medieval charter that regulated the collective use of natural resources and still reflects a deeply rooted agricultural culture.
Nature lovers will enjoy a walk through the Pineta of Cavareno, a pristine forest of centuries-old trees, perfect for peaceful strolls. Along the paths, the ArtePineta project features artistic installations made from natural materials and storm-felled wood, blending into the landscape and inviting moments of reflection.
For those who wish to extend their walk, the nearby “Lez Drià al Fos” trail follows an old irrigation channel through quiet woodland, all the way to the biotope of the Ruffrè Mendola lakes. Along the way, you’ll also encounter First World War trenches – silent witnesses to a turbulent past, now gently reclaimed by nature. The path leads to a serene natural sanctuary, rich in biodiversity – a peaceful retreat for both people and wildlife.
An experience of calm, beauty and inspiration – in perfect harmony with nature.
